Studio Information

Every student is unique and deserves a teacher who is willing to explore a flexible approach to learning. My students learn more than just how to play the flute, they learn music theory and history while exploring the repertoire and developing fundamental techniques necessary to play flute successfully and reach their musical goals. This approach helps students develop a life long appreciation for music.

‘Private study allows students to take their playing to the next level in a
personalized learning environment.’

Expectations: I work hard to make sure that each student reaches their potential. Students are expected to be on time and prepared for each lesson. Students should bring all music currently being studied and a notebook and pencil to record assignments each week.  Regular practice is essential to a successful learning experience. In order to develop the muscle coordination and other skills necessary to play the flute well, it is important to develop a daily practice routine. I work closely with each of my students to develop a healthy routine for practice and daily music study.

Music: While I have an extensive music library, and am happy to share my collection during lessons, students will be required to purchase their own copy of any music to be studied. Any music from my personal collection that is borrowed and not returned will be replaced at the student’s expense.

Payment and Cancellations: Payment for a month’s worth of instruction is due at the first lesson of each month, pro-rating the payment for the number of lessons that will be taught. It is assumed that the student will take one lesson each week for the duration of each month and tuition will be calculated based on that schedule. Lessons that are cancelled by the teacher will be rescheduled. You will be given a minimum of 24 hours notice if a lesson must be rescheduled, except in the case of emergency. In the event of an excused absence by the student, such as an illness or emergency, 24hrs minimum notice is required for rescheduling. Make-up lessons will be scheduled to take place within 3 weeks of the missed session. There are no refunds for missed lessons.

Time and Place: I am currently offering in person lessons at my Lenexa Studio, as well as in Overland Park near the Blue Valley Schools. I am also happy to teach online via Skype for those who are more comfortable or whose schedule does not align with one of my in person options. In an effort to provide a safe environment for all of my students, their families, and my own family, I respectfully request that students are up to date on all vaccines before attending in person lessons.
